“Superscan” Scintigraphic Version for Prostate Cancer

A rare scintigraphic phenomenon of “superscan” is considered – an abnormally high diffuse accumulation osteotropic radiopharmaceutical by all skeletal parts in combination with the absence kidney and tissue background imaging. This feature reflects a generalized bone system lesion metastatic, metabolic or hematological nature. We present clinical observation retrospective assessment data obtained during controlling androgen deprivation therapy patient prostate cancer. Based on analysis signs, including 99m Тс-pyrophosphate hyperfixation skull bones, as well concomitant levels prostatic specific antigen parathyroid hormone (PTH), it was suggested that identified had nature, its occurrence possibly due to ectopic production both PTH hormone-related protein, playing well-known role cancer genesis.
